A lot of Windows users email us asking how they can create QuickTime movies with Windows Movie Maker. What are you crazy? Do you think Microsoft would let you do that? (To be fair you can’t make a .wmv with iMovie.) So here’s a tip. If you have the free QuickTime player for Windows installed on your system you can use Avid Free DV ($0) to edit and compress Quicktime movies. Plus you get some editing software with more features than Movie Maker. Don’t worry Mac users. Avid didn’t forget you. Avid Free DV is also available for Mac. Tutorial coming soon(ish).

When I first started putting video on my blog I really had no idea what kind of stuff I wanted to do - I hadn’t found my vlogging voice yet. Then I saw this video by some woman named Ryan and I instantly “got” what videoblogging was all about. Thanks Ryanne.

Ryanne and I get a lot of emails from people having trouble with uploading thier videos to the Archive via Ourmedia. Here’s what I can tell you about that: It’s not perfect and sometimes things don’t work. In that case, just try uploading it again at another time. If you keep your videos under 20MB and you fill out the upload form the way we describe in the tutorial, it should work for you most of the time. I just uploaded 11 videos ranging from 1.5MB to 20MB in the last 24 hours and none of them took more than 15 minutes to become available on the Archive.
